Money X-ray: free spending tracker

See exactly where your money goes. Add your bank and credit card statements (CSV) and get spending by category, every subscription and bill, pay-later plans and what's left each month — in seconds, without linking your bank.

Drop your bank or credit card CSV files here

Add one or more statements (checking + cards, a few months). Files are read on your device — nothing is uploaded.

How to download a CSV from your bank

Sign in on your bank's website (the app usually can't export). Download 2–3 months for each checking account and credit card — more months find more subscriptions. Menu names change; look for Download or Export near your transactions.

Chase
Open the account → Download account activity (the download icon above transactions) → File type: Spreadsheet (CSV) → pick dates.
Bank of America
Open the account → Download (above transactions) → choose dates → File type: Microsoft Excel format (it's a .csv).
Wells Fargo
Account activity → Download account activity → choose dates → Comma delimited.
Capital One
Open the card → View more transactions → Download transactions → CSV.
Citi
Open the account → Download transactions (next to the activity filter) → CSV.
American Express
Statements & Activity → Download (icon) → CSV.
Discover
Activity & statements → Search transactions → Download → CSV.
Apple Card
On iPhone: Wallet → Apple Card → Card Balance → choose a monthly statement → Export transactions → Comma separated values.
U.S. Bank, Ally, credit unions
Look for Download, Export or Download transactions near your activity, and choose CSV.

Why we built it this way

Most Americans underestimate what they spend on subscriptions — in one survey of 1,000 adults, people guessed $86 a month when the real number was $219, and 42% were still paying for something they'd stopped using.

Budgeting apps fix this by linking your bank, which costs $100 a year after Mint shut down, breaks when the connection fails, and means handing your login to another company. Your bank already lets you download every transaction. Money X-ray reads that file — on your device — and shows you the answer in seconds.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to put my bank statement here?+

Your file is read by your own browser and never uploaded — there's no server step, no account and no bank login. You can even turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads and it still works. If you tick "Remember on this device", the transactions are saved only in this browser, and "Forget everything" deletes them.

Which banks does it work with?+

Any bank or card that lets you download transactions as CSV. It recognizes Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Citi, American Express, Discover, Apple Card and U.S. Bank layouts automatically, and works out the columns for other banks and credit unions.

How does it find subscriptions?+

It looks for the same merchant charging a similar amount on a regular schedule — weekly, every two weeks, monthly, quarterly or yearly — and recognizes over 80 common subscription services. It also flags price increases and subscriptions that stopped charging.

Can I use a PDF statement?+

Not yet — PDFs don't keep a reliable table of transactions. Download the CSV version instead; every major bank offers it (see the steps above).

Why does my spending look too high or too low?+

Card payments and transfers between your own accounts are left out so they aren't counted twice. If a file shows purchases as positive numbers and we guessed wrong, flip the "purchases shown as positive numbers" box for that file. You can also change any merchant's category.

Categories and recurring charges are detected automatically and can be wrong — check before cancelling anything. General information, not financial advice. Survey: C+R Research subscription survey (n=1,000).
